Research
The
Research Committee uses a think-tank approach to explore
the scientific underpinnings of psychiatry.
The specialty lacks a basic science that articulates
questions of pathology as deviations from normal physiology.
Guided by an evolutionary perspective, the committee
proposes that all psychopathology stems from dysfunction
of the social brain, i.e., the brain involved
in social interaction.
This principle serves as a framework for research,
teaching and clinical work. |
